About the Artist

Iona Ellsworth was born in 1998 and grew up in New Mexico. After graduating from Colorado College with a degree in English Literature, she decided to pursue oil painting and obtained a post-baccalaureate certificate from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. While studying at SAIC, Iona realized her main interest is in learning the craft of classical realism. This led Iona to continue her studies at various art schools around Chicago, including the Palette & Chisel Academy of Fine Art, where she has developed a strong understanding of the principles of light, form and composition. Iona has supplemented her education in Chicago with workshops in painting and drawing at schools like Grand Central Atelier. Beginning in 2025, Iona has been developing a series of still life paintings with plans for a group show at the Palette & Chisel in May 2026. Iona is also currently organizing a juried show of emerging artists to be held at the Palette & Chisel in August 2026.
